About the Organization & Project
Established in 1999 in Dhanusha, Aasaman Nepal (ASN) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to child rights, education, health/nutrition, and disaster risk reduction across 20 districts in Nepal.
ASN is currently implementing "Gallop for Good," an 18-month community-based pilot initiative in Jajarkot District funded by The Donkey Sanctuary, UK. The project applies an integrated One Welfare approach—recognizing the interconnected wellbeing of working mules, household livelihoods, human health, children's education, and environmental resilience in mountain communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Coordination & Activity Monitoring: Coordinate day-to-day project workflows across consortium partners and Technical Field Officers. Track project milestones against the logframe and conduct field verification visits.
- MEAL System & Digital Data Management: Design and maintain routine monitoring tools, indicator trackers, and survey forms using KoboToolbox/KoboCollect. Clean, manage, and analyze datasets in MS Excel.
- Veterinary & Mule Welfare Technical Input: Apply professional veterinary knowledge to assess mule health, handling, body condition, and welfare during field visits and vet camps. Interface with local government veterinarians and technical teams.
- One Welfare Learning & Assessments: Document cross-cutting links between animal health, household income, and child wellbeing. Support baseline, endline, and routine outcome evaluations.
- Community Accountability & Reporting: Establish community feedback channels, document success stories, and compile quality monitoring reports for the Project Manager and donors.
Eligibility Criteria & Minimum Qualifications
- Educational Degree: Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) or equivalent recognized for professional practice in Nepal.
- Professional Registration: Active registration with the relevant Nepal Veterinary Council / Authority.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in equine/mule welfare, community livestock projects, MEAL systems, or multi-partner NGO programs.
- Technical & Digital Proficiency: Hands-on expertise with KoboToolbox, MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charts), data cleaning, and digital survey tools.
- Age Limit: Candidates between 21 to 55 years are eligible.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken Nepali and English (local language proficiency is advantageous).
- Field Readiness: Full willingness to reside in Jajarkot and navigate remote, mountainous terrain across Nalgad Municipality and Barekot Rural Municipality.
